The SGS 33137 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding shop environments. With a 1-inch cutting diameter, 3-inch length of cut, and 6-inch overall length, this tool falls into the extra-long category for extended-reach applications. The 4-flute, spiral-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The variable index design reduces chatter and vibration during heavy passes. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and edge retention required for consistent performance across multiple workpiece materials. This end mill is intended for installation in CNC machining centers and manual mills by experienced machinists and tooling professionals.
The SGS 33137 is suited for milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including materials classified under workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. These codes correspond to hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, plain carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. The extra-long length makes it well suited for deep pocket milling, slotting, and profiling where standard-length tooling cannot reach. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders with 1-inch bore size.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with standard 1-inch bore collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, or end mill holders. Compatible with workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with toolholder torque requirements and runout specifications. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the holder to the minimum clamping depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer before tightening. Verify spindle runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling. Never exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended feeds, speeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the workpiece material being machined.
