The SGS 33128 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 0.375 inch (3/8 inch) mill diameter, a 1.75 inch length of cut, and a 4.0 inch overall length, classifying it as an extra-long series tool (Series 1ELB). The 4-flute, right-hand cutting configuration combined with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Micrograin carbide construction delivers the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding cuts in harder workpiece materials. This end mill ships uncoated and is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working on CNC and manual milling operations.
The SGS 33128 is suited for milling operations requiring extended reach into deep pockets, contoured surfaces, and complex 3D geometries. The ball nose profile makes it well-matched for finishing passes on curved and sculptured surfaces. The variable index geometry helps reduce harmonic vibration during cutting. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad spectrum of steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. This tool is used in job shops, aerospace component machining, mold and die work, and general precision manufacturing.
Designed for use in standard 3/8 inch tool holders and collets. Rated for workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the supplier specifications, covering hardened steels, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys. Verify tool holder runout and machine spindle clearance before use in deep-pocket applications.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 3/8 inch shank fully and evenly in the collet or end mill holder, and torque the retention mechanism to the tool holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, and confirm feed rate and speed settings are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
