The SGS 33123 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in CNC machining and manual milling operations. It features a 0.250 inch cutting diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 4.0 inch overall length, placing it in the extra-long reach category. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for demanding cuts in a wide range of workpiece materials. This is a centercutting tool, allowing it to plunge directly into the material. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install and use this end mill in standard straight-cylindrical tool holders.
The SGS 33123 Series 1EL end mill is suited for milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and other materials corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The extra-long length of cut makes it appropriate for applications requiring deeper axial engagement or clearance around workholding fixtures. It is used in production and jobshop environments on vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual knee mills. The uncoated, micrograin carbide substrate is appropriate where coating interaction with certain materials is a concern or where re-sharpening is planned.
The SGS 33123 is a Series 1EL solid carbide square end mill compatible with workpiece materials classified under codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, which include steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and titanium. It fits any tool holder accepting a 0.250 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Tighten the collet or set screw to the tool holder manufacturer's specified torque using appropriate tooling. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before beginning the operation, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades surface finish on a four-flute tool.
