The SGS 33109 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for demanding material removal in a long-length configuration. It features a 7/16-inch cutting diameter, a 2-inch length of cut, and a 4-1/2-inch overall length, making it well-suited for slots, pockets, and profiling operations that require extended reach. The micrograin carbide construction delivers edge rigidity and wear resistance in harder workpiece materials. With 4 flutes, a 30-degree helix angle, and a variable index design, this tool balances chip evacuation efficiency with reduced harmonic vibration during the cut.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where extended reach into deep features is required. The Series 1L long-length geometry addresses applications in aerospace, die-and-mold, and general metalworking where standard-length tools cannot reach the full depth of the feature. It is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry. Classified for use with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, it covers a range including cast irons, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys.

Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked out before installing or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the holder manufacturer, and verify runout with a dial indicator before production cutting. Uncoated carbide tools are sensitive to thermal shock — avoid interrupted coolant application once the cut has begun if coolant is used.
