The SGS 32730 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 0.3125-inch mill diameter, a 0.4375-inch length of cut, and a 38-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. The micrograin carbide substrate provides hardness and edge retention beyond what standard carbide grades offer. A titanium diboride (TiB2) coating reduces friction and built-up edge on aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. Three flutes and a right-hand spiral configuration make this tool well suited for finish milling and profiling passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy matter. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is optimized for cutting non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, copper, and brass. The long-reach geometry, with a 1.125-inch reach length, allows access to pocketing and slotting operations where standard-length tools cannot reach the floor of the feature. The 0.3125-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders. The Series 43L designation indicates a long-flute, extended-reach design intended for applications that demand added clearance without sacrificing rigidity. Centercutting geometry allows the tool to plunge directly into the workpiece when required.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard collet or end mill holder tooling accepting a 0.3125-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material class is non-ferrous metals (material code N), including aluminum, copper, and brass alloys.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the control placed in an appropriate safe state before tooling is changed. Verify collet or holder bore size matches the 0.3125-inch shank before seating the tool, and confirm runout with a dial indicator after tightening to maintain tolerance. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material and depth of cut.
