The SGS 32705 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling of non-ferrous metals including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. It features a 0.3125 inch diameter cutting edge, a 0.4375 inch length of cut, and a 38-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The micrograin carbide construction delivers hardness and edge retention suited to high-speed machining operations. Three right-hand spiral flutes provide a balance between chip clearance and surface finish. This is a single-end, center-cutting tool, meaning it can plunge directly into the workpiece as well as perform side and slot milling operations. It is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 32705 belongs to the Series 43L long-reach end mill family. The 1.125 inch reach length and 4 inch overall length make it suitable for milling applications that require extended access into pockets, slots, or stepped features where a standard-length tool cannot reach. The bright uncoated finish and micrograin carbide grade are optimized for non-ferrous workpiece materials. It accepts a straight-cylindrical shank in a standard 0.3125 inch collet or end mill holder, which is common on vertical machining centers and manual knee mills.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or new-install end mill for machining centers and manual mills using a 5/16 inch collet or end mill holder. Intended for primary use in non-ferrous metal applications per Series 43L specifications.
Installation is performed by machinists using a collet chuck or end mill holder sized for a 0.3125 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Follow the machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for the collet nut. Verify runout at the cutting edge after installation before beginning the cut.
