The SGS 32681 is a 5-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built on the SGS Series 55 platform, it features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length with a matching 5/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The micrograin carbide substrate and AlTiN coating deliver hardness and thermal resistance needed for high-speed cutting in ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. A 45-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces. Variable index spacing helps suppress chatter at higher spindle speeds. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 32681 is suited for milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, P, and S. Its stub length classification makes it appropriate for rigid setups where minimal overhang is required, such as face milling, slotting, and profiling passes in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is standard for conventional spindle-direction setups.
Designed for use with workpiece material categories H, K, M, and P, and S as specified by the manufacturer, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. Fits any tool holder or collet accepting a 5/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the minimum recommended insertion depth in the tool holder and torque the collet or set screw per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality.
