The SGS 32677 is a 5-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding production environments. Built from micrograin carbide with an AlTiN finish, it runs at elevated surface speeds and handles heat well, making it suitable for hardened steels, stainless alloys, titanium, and cast materials. The 3/8-inch cutting diameter and stub-length geometry provide rigidity in tight setups. A 45-degree helix angle combined with a variable index flute spacing reduces harmonic chatter and improves surface finish. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shop, aerospace, and general manufacturing applications.
The SGS 32677 fits standard 3/8-inch tool holders and collets with a straight-cylindrical shank. It is suited for milling operations on workpiece materials classified under hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon steels, and superalloys. The stub-length, 1/2-inch length of cut is optimized for slotting, profiling, and shoulder milling where minimal tool overhang is required. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC machining center setups.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys. Accepts any 3/8-inch internal-diameter end mill holder or collet with a straight-cylindrical bore.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a clean, properly torqued collet or end mill holder to the depth recommended by the holder manufacturer. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as micrograin carbide is sensitive to excessive runout-induced impact loading.
