The SGS 32671 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built on SGS Series 55, it features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and five flutes arranged in a variable index pattern to reduce harmonic vibration and improve surface finish. The AlTiN coating provides excellent heat resistance and extends tool life when cutting ferrous and exotic alloys at elevated speeds. Micrograin carbide construction gives the tool superior hardness and edge retention compared to standard carbide grades. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this end mill in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for applications in hardened steels, stainless steels, titanium alloys, high-temperature superalloys, and cast irons, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, P, and S. With a 45-degree helix angle and right-hand cutting and flute direction, it performs well in both conventional and climb milling strategies. The straight cylindrical shank measures 1 inch in diameter, making it compatible with standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders commonly found in CNC machining centers. The 4 inch overall length suits most standard spindle setups without requiring extended-reach configurations.
Rated for workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, titanium, and high-temperature superalloys. The 1 inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders designed for 1 inch shank tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard CNC tooling setup procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Confirm proper tool stick-out and runout within acceptable tolerances for the application before starting a cut. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications when securing collet nuts or set screws.
