The SGS 32660 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of metallic workpiece materials. Built on the Series 55 platform, it features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, five flutes, and a 45-degree helix angle with variable index geometry that helps reduce chatter and improve surface finish. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting hardened steels, stainless, titanium, and high-temperature alloys. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers the hardness and edge retention required for demanding production environments. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals operating CNC mills or manual machines.
The SGS 32660 is suited for slotting, peripheral milling, and profiling operations across a broad spectrum of materials including hardened steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys as indicated by material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The regular length profile and straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard ER collets and end mill holders used in both vertical and horizontal machining centers. It is a single-end tool with right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction, appropriate for conventional CNC setups.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with standard collet chucks or end mill holders accepting a 5/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for workpiece materials designated by codes H, K, M, P, and S, which include hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tooling setup procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Secure the shank to the full recommended engagement depth in the collet or holder to minimize runout and prevent pullout under load. Verify tool projection and runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut.
