The SGS 32592 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding metal removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It features a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 0.0300 inch corner radius, and five flutes arranged in a variable index pattern with a 45-degree high helix. The AlTiN coating, marketed under SGS proprietary designation Ti-NAMITE-A, provides thermal resistance and wear performance in high-speed applications. At 2 inches overall length with a 1/2 inch length of cut, this short-series end mill suits rigid setups where deflection control is critical. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals specify this geometry for both roughing and finishing passes on hard and abrasion-resistant workpiece materials.
The SGS 32592 is suited for milling operations on ferrous and exotic alloys in production and job-shop environments. Its corner radius geometry reduces stress concentration at cutting edges, extending tool life compared to sharp-corner end mills when side milling, profiling, or finishing pockets and slots. The short length-of-cut classification and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard end mill toolholders. This end mill is not center-cutting and is intended for peripheral and slot milling where plunge entry is not required. Typical applications include aerospace component machining, die and mold work, and high-alloy part production.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch straight cylindrical shank with h6 shank diameter tolerance. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual mills where toolholder runout is controlled. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium; secondary application is hard material stock.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-setter with the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state before tool changes. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder to the recommended gauge line and torque the set screw or collet nut per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before beginning the operation, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear on carbide tools. This end mill is not center-cutting; do not use for direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled or ramped entry path.
