The SGS 32434 is a solid carbide tapered ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured and complex 3D profiles. Built to Series 24B specifications, it features a 2-degree taper angle per side with a 1/4-inch small end diameter and a 1/8-inch nose radius, making it well-suited for finishing passes in deep cavities and tapered wall geometry. The 3-flute spiral configuration supports efficient chip evacuation while maintaining a rigid cutting edge. With a 2-inch length of cut and a 28-degree helix angle, this tool delivers consistent performance in a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and toolroom operators working in CNC milling applications will find this tool fits standard toolholding setups via its 1/2-inch shank diameter.
This end mill is appropriate for machining operations requiring precise taper geometry, including die and mold work, aerospace component finishing, and general contouring tasks. The bright uncoated finish makes it a suitable choice for non-ferrous metals, cast iron, heat-resistant alloys, and stainless steel, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is used in vertical and horizontal CNC milling centers where tight dimensional tolerances on tapered features are required. The overall length of 4 inches provides adequate reach for most moderate-depth milling applications without sacrificing rigidity.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the supplier specifications, covering stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, aluminum, steel, and heat-resistant superalloys. Fits standard 1/2-inch diameter collet chucks and milling toolholders used in CNC machining centers.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine fully powered down and in a safe, locked-out state per applicable shop safety protocols. Seat the 1/2-inch shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet or toolholder and verify runout before initiating a cut. Follow the machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable ANSI machining standards for feed rate and spindle speed setup. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping or wear before each use, as carbide tooling is brittle and should not be forced into interrupted or heavily scaled workpieces without proper setup verification.
