The SGS 32424 is a solid carbide tapered ball end mill designed for precision milling of complex contoured surfaces, deep cavities, and tapered walls. It features a 5-degree taper angle per side with a 1/8-inch small end diameter and a 3/8-inch shank diameter, giving it the reach and rigidity needed for detailed finishing passes in tight geometries. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 28-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With a 1-1/2-inch length of cut and a 3-1/2-inch overall length, this tool handles deep-reach applications where standard end mills fall short. It is an uncoated, micrograin carbide tool suitable for use in CNC machining centers.
This tapered ball end mill is used in CNC milling applications requiring tapered wall profiles, 3D surface finishing, and core or cavity work in mold and die machining. The ball end geometry allows the tool to produce smooth, blended contours on inclined and curved surfaces. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working with milling machines and machining centers. Ensure the spindle and all machine axes are fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully and evenly in the collet or tool holder and torque the retention nut per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as excessive runout will accelerate tool wear and degrade surface finish.
