The SGS 32274 is a 2-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in CNC machining and manual milling operations. It features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 7/8-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length with a matching 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting speeds. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers hardness and edge retention well beyond high-speed steel alternatives. This tool is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments.
The SGS 32274 Series 59 end mill is suited for milling a wide range of workpiece materials, including cast iron, hardened steels, stainless steels, titanium, aluminum alloys, and non-ferrous metals, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece. The spiral flute design, combined with a 25-degree helix angle and right-hand cut with right-hand flute, promotes efficient chip evacuation during slotting, peripheral milling, and contouring operations. This is a regular-length tool appropriate for standard-reach applications where extended reach is not required.
Designed for use in standard 3/8-inch collets, end mill holders, or hydraulic chucks on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Compatible with workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator familiar with cutting tool setup procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or in an e-stop state before loading or changing tooling. Verify that the collet or tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank, and confirm runout with a dial indicator when tolerances are critical. Always follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed parameters appropriate to the workpiece material.
