The SGS 31768 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 1L long-length standards, it features a 0.7500 inch cutting diameter, a 2.2500 inch length of cut, and a 5.0000 inch overall length. The four-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in high-temperature cutting conditions. The micrograin carbide substrate adds hardness and edge retention. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into the workpiece. It is suited for use on vertical and horizontal machining centers in production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 31768 is intended for milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The long series 1L configuration makes it well suited to deep-pocket milling, slotting, and side milling where standard-length tooling cannot reach. The straight cylindrical shank and right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction are consistent with standard CNC milling setups. It is typically installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in manufacturing, tooling, and metalworking trades.
Designed as a long-series OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use in standard 3/4 inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool builder guidelines for tool runout and clamping torque ranges appropriate to the holder type in use. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool-change mode is engaged before mounting or removing the end mill. Confirm shank seating depth meets the minimum engagement requirement for the holder style before beginning any cut. Verify shank diameter tolerance compatibility with the collet or holder to maintain runout within acceptable limits for the intended application.
