The SGS 31652 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. Built on SGS Series 16, this stub-length end mill features a 1/8 inch diameter, a 1/4 inch length of cut, and a 1-1/2 inch overall length. The four-flute, right-hand spiral design paired with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating increases surface hardness and extends tool life in demanding cutting environments. The micrograin carbide substrate provides rigidity and wear resistance. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators working in job shop, production, and toolroom settings.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations across a broad spectrum of workpiece materials including carbon steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and titanium. Its stub-length configuration minimizes deflection, making it well suited for high-precision cuts where rigidity is critical. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders. Variable index geometry helps reduce harmonic vibration during cuts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use end mill compatible with standard 1/8 inch collet chucks and end mill holders across CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S indicate suitability for hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous materials, carbon steels, and high-temperature alloys.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts.
