The SGS 31623 is a solid carbide, square-end, single-end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. Built on the Series 16 platform with a micrograin carbide substrate, it delivers consistent edge integrity and dimensional accuracy. The cutter measures 0.625 inches in diameter with a 0.75-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length. Its 4-flute, spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. This is a centercutting tool, enabling both plunge and ramping entry. Installation and setup are handled by machinists and CNC operators working with vertical or horizontal milling machines.
The SGS 31623 is suited for stub-length milling operations where rigidity is a priority and extended reach is not required. It performs in a broad spectrum of materials, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, steel, and free-machining materials, as indicated by its primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into standard collet chucks or end mill holders sized for a 0.625-inch bore. This tool ships individually and is appropriate for production and job-shop environments alike.
Designed as an OEM-style drop-in replacement or new-install end mill for standard 0.625-inch straight-cylindrical end mill holders and collet systems used in CNC and manual milling machines.
This tool is installed by machinists using standard collet chucks, shrink-fit holders, or set-screw end mill holders rated for a 0.625-inch shank diameter. Confirm runout at the spindle before committing to finish cuts. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Do not exceed the holder manufacturer's recommended pull-out force specifications when setting tool projection length.
