The SGS 31613 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of materials. It carries a 1/4 inch cutting diameter with a 1/2 inch length of cut and a 2 inch overall length. The micrograin carbide construction delivers the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding cuts. A 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the tool in its as-ground state, making it well suited for applications where coating interactions with the workpiece must be avoided. This is a single-end tool with a straight cylindrical shank.
The SGS 31613 is built for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills in job shop, tool room, and production environments. The stub length profile increases rigidity and reduces deflection in tight-clearance applications. Workpiece material compatibility codes H, K, M, N, P, and S indicate suitability for hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is appropriate for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations where a square shoulder geometry is required.
Compatible with workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the supplier specification, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous materials, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys. Fits any standard 1/4 inch collet, end mill holder, or hydraulic chuck.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or changing tooling. Verify the holder is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the shank. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after clamping to avoid premature tool wear or workpiece damage.
