The SGS 31605 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.125 inch mill diameter and a 0.25 inch length of cut, this stub-length tool is built for controlled material removal in tight envelopes. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for consistent performance in demanding cuts. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation while reducing cutting forces on the workpiece. This end mill ships individually and is intended for installation by machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on a broad range of workpiece materials, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant alloys, and titanium, as indicated by primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its stub-length profile makes it effective in applications where rigidity is critical and overhang must be minimized. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet and end mill holder tooling. It is a single-end tool with a bright, uncoated finish, appropriate for general-purpose cutting where coating is not required by the application.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard straight-bore collets and end mill holders accepting a 0.125 inch shank diameter. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and similar machine tool setups.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the collet or holder to the recommended grip depth and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use and replace the tool if edge integrity is compromised.
