The SGS 31475 is a double-end, square-profile solid carbide end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of materials. It measures 3/8 inches in diameter with a 9/16-inch length of cut and a 2-1/2-inch overall length. The four-flute, right-hand spiral design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting performance. A titanium nitride (TiN) coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance, extending tool life in demanding applications. The micrograin carbide substrate provides a strong, consistent cutting edge suited for tight-tolerance work. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals operating CNC machining centers and manual mills.
The SGS 31475 is suited for milling operations across a broad spectrum of workpiece materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel alloys, heat-resistant alloys, and non-metallic materials, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its stub-length classification and straight-cylindrical shank make it appropriate for general-purpose pocketing, slotting, profiling, and contouring in both production-shop and tool-room environments. The double-end configuration doubles usable tool life before a replacement is required, offering practical value in high-cycle machining setups.
Designed for use with standard 3/8-inch collets, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the supplier specification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per facility safety procedures. Ensure the toolholder bore and shank are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the tool. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the workpiece material being machined. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended feed and speed parameters for the material and coating type.
