The SGS 31433 is a double-end, square-profile solid carbide end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide, it features a 5/16-inch cutting diameter, a 1/2-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree right-hand helix. The stub-length, double-end configuration gives machinists two usable cutting ends, extending tool life and reducing per-cut cost. With four spiral flutes and centercutting capability, it handles slotting, profiling, and plunge operations in a range of workpiece materials. A 5/16-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collets and toolholders. This tool is sold as a single unit.
The SGS 31433 is suited for milling operations on a broad spectrum of materials, including cast irons, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, high-temp alloys, carbon and alloy steels, and titanium alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its stub-length geometry makes it a practical choice for rigid setups where minimal overhang is required, such as on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. The double-end design is particularly effective in production environments where tool change frequency is a cost consideration.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard 5/16-inch collets, end mill holders, and toolholding systems used on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, powered-down state before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the collet or toolholder and torque the retention hardware per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on a carbide tool.
