The SGS 31407 is a double-end, four-flute square end mill manufactured from micrograin solid carbide. It carries a 5/64-inch (0.0781 inch) cutting diameter and a 1/8-inch length of cut, making it suited for tight-tolerance slot milling, profiling, and finishing passes in small-feature work. The stub-length geometry keeps the tool rigid under load, reducing deflection in demanding cutting conditions. A 30-degree right-hand spiral helix promotes chip evacuation while maintaining edge strength. The bright, uncoated finish makes this a general-purpose tool ready for use across a broad range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in precision manufacturing and tool-and-die environments are the primary users.
This end mill is designed for milling operations on materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S under standard workpiece material classification, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, general steels, and high-temperature alloys. The double-end configuration doubles usable cutting edges per tool, lowering per-edge tooling cost in production environments. The 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and end-mill holders common in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. With an overall length of 1-1/2 inches, this stub-length tool is best deployed in setups where minimal overhang is achievable.
Designed for use in standard 1/8-inch collet chucks and end-mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Compatible with workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank fully within the collet or end-mill holder to the recommended gauge-line depth before torquing the retention mechanism. Confirm machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before tool changes. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and cutting condition.
