The SGS 31401 is a double-end, four-flute square end mill ground from micrograin solid carbide for precision milling in demanding applications. The tool measures 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch) in cutting diameter with a 0.0625-inch (1/16-inch) length of cut, making it well suited for fine detail work and tight-tolerance features. A 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining edge integrity. The bright, uncoated finish is typical for micrograin carbide tools used where coating interactions with workpiece materials are a concern. This is a stub-length configuration with a 1.5-inch overall length and a 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Installation is performed by qualified machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC machining centers and manual mills.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down or placed in an e-stop state before changing tooling. Secure the 1/8-inch straight shank in a properly sized, clean collet or end mill holder and tighten to the machine manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the cutting edges under magnification before use, as micro-diameter carbide tools are susceptible to chipping during handling.
