The SGS 31360 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in machining applications. Built to Series 17 stub-length specifications, it features a 0.125-inch cutting diameter, a 0.25-inch length of cut, and a 1.5-inch overall length. The two-flute spiral geometry runs at a 30-degree helix angle with right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction, promoting efficient chip evacuation. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The micrograin carbide substrate adds rigidity and wear resistance suited to close-tolerance work. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tool in vertical or horizontal machining centers for finish and semi-finish passes.
The SGS 31360 is suited for milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, titanium, and heat-resistant alloys, consistent with material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The stub-length body minimizes overhang and deflection, making it well-matched to applications requiring tight dimensional tolerances or work in confined features. The straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER collet systems and end mill holders common in CNC milling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement end mill compatible with standard straight-cylindrical shank tool holders and ER collet systems accepting a 0.125-inch shank diameter. Suitable for workpiece materials classified under codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention hardware to the tool holder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, particularly given the close shank diameter tolerance of +0.00000 / -0.00032 inches.
