The SGS 31260 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It runs a 7/16 inch (0.4375 inch) mill diameter with a 5/8 inch length of cut and a 2-1/2 inch overall length. The four-flute, spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extends tool life in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. Micrograin carbide construction adds edge strength and wear resistance at higher cutting speeds. The straight cylindrical shank seats securely in standard collets and end mill holders.
This end mill is designed for milling operations on a broad range of workpiece materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, non-metallic materials, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. The stub-length profile makes it well suited for slotting, side milling, and profiling where a shorter reach reduces deflection. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional CNC machining center setups.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard straight-bore collet chucks, ER collet systems, and end mill holders accepting a 7/16 inch shank diameter. Suitable for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills with appropriate spindle speed and feed rate settings for the selected workpiece material.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC programmer familiar with proper tooling setup procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in a safe state before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the retention mechanism per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, and confirm speeds and feeds are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
