The SGS 31259 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling across a broad range of workpiece materials. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 4-flute, single-end configuration with a 30-degree helix angle. The AlTiN coating — marketed under the Ti-NAMITE-A designation — provides excellent heat resistance and tool life in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. Manufactured from micrograin carbide, the 31259 holds tight diameter tolerances and is suited for production environments where consistent performance and edge retention matter. Licensed HVAC and plumbing tradespeople do not typically install this product; it is purchased and used by machinists, tool-and-die shops, and CNC operators.
This end mill is built for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. Its stub-length profile and right-hand cut and flute direction make it a practical choice for standard CNC machining centers and manual mills where rigidity is a priority. The variable index geometry helps reduce chatter and harmonic vibration during full-slot or side-milling operations, extending tool life and improving surface finish quality.
Compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and hardened materials. Shank diameter of 3/8 inch fits standard 3/8 inch collets and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention nut to the equipment manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and degrades surface finish.
