The SGS 31136 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it measures 0.1094 inches in diameter with a 0.375 inch length of cut and a 1.5 inch overall length. The 3-flute, 30-degree right-hand spiral geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN coating increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting conditions. This tool is suited for machinists and toolroom operators running CNC milling operations where tight tolerances and finish quality are required.
The SGS 31136 is used in CNC vertical and horizontal milling centers for profiling, slotting, and contouring operations. Its ball nose geometry makes it well suited for 3D contour work and finishing passes on complex surfaces. The 1/8 inch shank fits standard collet toolholders commonly found on CNC machining centers and benchtop mills. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad range of steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and titanium alloys.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the SGS Series 5B lineup, covering hardened steels, stainless steels, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, aerospace alloys, and titanium. Fits standard 1/8 inch collet toolholders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for collet torque and runout limits. Verify collet cleanliness and shank seating before tightening to minimize runout, which is critical at small diameters. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate settings are appropriate for the workpiece material and depth of cut before engaging the tool. Never exceed the manufacturer rated cutting parameters for this diameter class.
