The SGS 31135 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 0.0938-inch (3/32-inch) mill diameter and a 0.2813-inch length of cut, this tool delivers accurate ball-nose profiling and contouring at tight tolerances. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and hardness for extended tool life in high-temperature cutting environments. Three right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This is a single-end tool from the SGS Series 5B line, ground from micrograin solid carbide for consistent edge integrity. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals working with CNC machining centers and manual mills are the primary users.
The SGS 31135 is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, high-temp alloys, and cast materials, consistent with its primary workpiece material codes covering hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous alloys, steel, and superalloys. The 0.0938-inch diameter and 1.5-inch overall length make it well-matched for fine detail work, core and cavity milling, and finishing passes on small contoured features. It is a single-end, non-coolant-through design without extended reach, chipbreaker, variable helix, or variable index geometry, keeping the tool profile straightforward for standard milling setups.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/8-inch straight shank. Suitable for workpiece materials corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, which include hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous alloys, general steels, and superalloys.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists using an appropriate collet or end mill holder rated for the 1/8-inch shank diameter. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and power is off before changing tooling. Confirm runout on the shank is within acceptable limits before beginning a cut, as small-diameter carbide end mills are sensitive to excessive runout. Follow the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material and coating type.
