The SGS 30841 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling applications. It features a 31/64-inch (0.4844-inch) cutting diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length with a 1/2-inch straight cylindrical shank. Three spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN coating provides heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers hardness and wear resistance suited for production and toolroom environments. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
The SGS 30841 is suited for milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, steel alloys, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is a centercutting tool, allowing plunge entry in addition to peripheral and slot milling. The regular-length design fits standard milling setups without requiring extended-reach toolholders. Typical applications include face milling, profiling, slotting, and contour work on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Designed for use with standard 1/2-inch straight-bore toolholders including collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit holders on CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills. Compatible workpiece material codes per input data: H, K, M, N, P, and S.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the 1/2-inch shank fully into the toolholder bore and torque the clamping mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, as excessive runout will accelerate tool wear and reduce dimensional accuracy.
