The SGS 30837 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of metalworking applications. It features a 27/64 inch (0.4219 inch) cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 7/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The 3-flute, spiral-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN finish increases surface hardness and thermal resistance, extending tool life in demanding cuts. Micrograin carbide construction provides edge toughness across a variety of workpiece materials. Licensed HVAC techs, plumbers, and machinists working in tool-and-die, job shop, or production environments will find this a reliable single-end mill for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations.
The SGS 30837 Series 5 end mill is suited for milling hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, plastics, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry into the workpiece, making it adaptable to both conventional and climb milling strategies. The regular-length body and 2-3/4 inch overall length keep the tool compact for setups where rigidity and minimal overhang are priorities.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per applicable shop safety procedures. Secure the shank in a precision collet or end mill holder to the manufacturer-specified clamping torque for the holder type in use. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut appropriate to the workpiece material.
