The SGS 30831 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 21/64 inch (0.3281 inch) cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The three-flute geometry paired with a 30-degree spiral flute and AlTiN coating supports efficient chip evacuation and extended tool life in high-heat cutting conditions. Micrograin carbide construction provides the rigidity and edge retention required for close-tolerance work. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can be plunged directly into material as part of the machining operation.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals across a range of workpiece material codes including H, K, M, N, P, and S classifications — covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, mild steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. Its regular-length profile makes it a practical choice for standard pocket milling, profiling, slotting, and contouring operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills where a 3/8 inch shank is the required interface.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use with 3/8 inch collets or end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by SGS Series 5 tooling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, powered-down state before installing or removing the tool. Seat the 3/8 inch shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine or toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges before use and confirm runout is within tolerance for the intended application.
