The SGS 30815 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of materials. It features a 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch) cutting diameter, a 3/16 inch length of cut, and a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank, with a 1-1/2 inch overall length. The three-flute spiral geometry runs right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction and a 30-degree helix angle. An AlTiN coating adds heat and wear resistance, making this tool well-suited for harder workpieces and higher-speed applications. The micrograin carbide substrate provides edge integrity at small diameters. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill for slot milling, profiling, and finishing passes in tight-tolerance work.
This end mill is built for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where small-diameter precision cutting is required. The centercutting design allows plunge entry as well as conventional side milling. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, general steels, and superalloys. The regular-length body keeps deflection low at this diameter, which is critical for maintaining dimensional accuracy in fine detail work on molds, dies, and small components.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with small-diameter carbide tooling. Seat the shank fully in a collet or end mill holder rated for 1/8 inch shanks and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Carbide end mills at this diameter are brittle — avoid side loads during tool changes and inspect the cutting edge under magnification before use. Always verify spindle speed and feed rate against material and diameter guidelines before engaging the cut.
