The SGS 30814 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling in demanding machining applications. Built on the SGS Series 5 platform, it features a 1/16 inch cutting diameter, a 3/16 inch length of cut, and a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank. The three-flute geometry paired with a 30-degree helix angle and AlTiN finish supports efficient chip evacuation and heat resistance during aggressive cuts. At 1-1/2 inches overall length and micrograin carbide construction, this tool holds tight tolerances and handles a broad range of workpiece materials. It is centercutting, right-hand cut, and right-hand flute, making it suitable for standard CNC milling centers and manual knee mills.
This end mill is intended for precision slot milling, profiling, and contouring operations across multiple material categories. The Primary Workpiece Material codes cover ferrous alloys, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous materials, steel, and superalloys. The small diameter and regular length classification make it especially well-suited for fine-feature work in mold and die, aerospace component machining, and medical device manufacturing where tight tolerances and repeatable performance are critical.
Compatible with workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous alloys, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. Fits standard 1/8 inch collets and end mill holders used on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC programmer familiar with small-diameter tooling. Ensure the toolholder collet or end mill holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Confirm runout at the cutting diameter before beginning a production run, as small-diameter carbide tools are sensitive to even minor misalignment. Handle micrograin carbide end mills with care to avoid chipping the cutting edges during setup and storage.
