The SGS 30809 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a broad range of materials. Built from micrograin carbide stock and coated with TiCN for wear resistance and surface hardness, this tool runs a right-hand cut with right-hand spiral fluting at a 30-degree helix angle. The three-flute geometry balances chip evacuation with rigidity on small-diameter work. At 0.125 inches in diameter with a 0.375-inch length of cut and a 1.5-inch overall length, it is sized for detailed slot milling, contouring, and profiling passes where tool footprint is limited.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual knee mills handling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, cast irons, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and non-metallic materials. The centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry, which is useful in die work, mold work, and fine-feature contouring. Machinists working with tight tolerances in tool-and-die, aerospace component finishing, and precision part production will find the micrograin carbide substrate and TiCN coating appropriate for these demands. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly into a standard collet or end mill holder sized for 0.125-inch shanks.

Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the machine manufacturer specification before spindle operation. Verify spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cut geometry before running. Confirm runout at the tool tip is within acceptable limits after seating, particularly on tools of this diameter where runout has a proportionally larger effect on edge life and cut quality.
