The SGS 30789 is a square end mill designed for precision milling operations in a wide range of metalworking applications. Ground from micrograin solid carbide and coated with a titanium carbonitride (TiCN) finish, this tool delivers consistent cutting performance and extended tool life in demanding shop environments. It features a 19/64 inch (0.2969 inch) diameter, a 13/16 inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle with three spiral flutes. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling. Machinists and toolroom professionals use this end mill for contouring, slotting, and profiling operations where dimensional accuracy is required.
This end mill is suited for milling a broad range of workpiece materials. The TiCN coating and micrograin carbide substrate make it appropriate for use on cast irons, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, heat-resistant alloys, steel alloys, and other materials in the H, K, M, N, P, and S material code categories. It fits standard 5/16 inch collets and tool holders, making it compatible with most vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills used in job shop and production environments. Its 2-1/2 inch overall length suits standard-reach applications without requiring extended holders.
Designed for use in standard 5/16 inch collets and end mill holders on CNC and manual milling machines. Compatible with workpiece materials in the H, K, M, N, P, and S primary material code categories as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician familiar with rotating cutting tool safety. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the machine powered down before inserting or removing the end mill from the collet or tool holder. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the collet nut is torqued according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or wear before each use, as carbide end mills are brittle and can fracture if run with pre-existing damage.
