The SGS 30774 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from micrograin carbide and coated with TiCN for extended wear resistance, it measures 1/16 inch (0.0625 inch) in diameter with a 3/16 inch length of cut and a 1-1/2 inch overall length. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation while maintaining cutting stability at small diameters. Three flutes provide a balance between chip clearance and surface finish. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry, giving machinists flexibility in toolpath programming. This end mill is sized for fine-detail work and tight-tolerance features in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
The SGS 30774 is suited for milling operations on a broad range of workpiece materials including cast irons, non-ferrous metals, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, titanium, and carbon steels, as indicated by primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is most commonly used in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments where small-diameter, high-precision cuts are required. The straight cylindrical 1/8 inch shank fits standard collets and tool holders used on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Designed as a standard replacement or production-use square end mill for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank collet or tool holder.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated per shop safety procedures. Ensure the collet and tool holder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as small-diameter carbide end mills are sensitive to even minor misalignment. Cutting parameters should be selected based on workpiece material, machine rigidity, and coolant availability.
