The SGS 30598 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining applications. It features a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length. The two-flute design with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection, making this tool suitable for dry machining and elevated cutting speeds. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, the 30598 delivers rigidity and edge retention across a wide range of workpiece materials. It is configured as a single-end tool with right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction.
This ball end mill is appropriate for milling operations on materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, aluminum, titanium, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by its primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It fits standard CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with a 1 inch collet or end mill holder. The regular-length Series 3B configuration suits general-purpose profiling, contouring, and 3D surface work where a ball nose geometry is required.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines accepting a 1 inch straight shank. Primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S indicate suitability for hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, steel alloys, and high-temperature or exotic alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the tool holder specification. Verify runout and tool projection before beginning a cut, and confirm feed and speed parameters match the workpiece material and coating recommendations.
