The SGS 30556 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. With a 0.4375-inch (7/16 inch) mill diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 3-flute spiral geometry, this single-end tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and a quality surface finish in ferrous and non-ferrous applications. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding cuts. A 30-degree helix angle balances cutting forces and reduces chatter during profiling and contouring passes.
This ball end mill suits toolrooms, production shops, and maintenance machining environments where 3D contouring, profiling, and radius-bottom slot milling are required. The uncoated finish makes it a practical choice for applications where coating compatibility with the workpiece material or cutting fluid is a concern. It is a regular-length tool appropriate for standard reach setups without the need for extended-reach configurations. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC and manual milling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide ball end mill suitable for use in standard milling machine spindles and CNC machining centers accepting a 7/16-inch shank. Primary workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad range of metals and engineering materials.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Secure the 7/16-inch shank in a compatible collet or end mill holder torqued to the machine tool manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout after installation before beginning a cutting pass. Always select appropriate feeds, speeds, and cutting fluid based on workpiece material to maximize tool life.
