The SGS 30545 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of materials. It features a 23/64 inch (0.3594 inch) cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank with an overall length of 2.5 inches. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this three-flute tool delivers rigidity and edge retention in demanding cutting environments. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute geometry, combined with a 30-degree helix angle, promote efficient chip evacuation. The centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece.
This end mill is suited for milling operations in a broad range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, structural steels, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It is a regular-length, single-end tool intended for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines in both production and toolroom environments. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing will find it appropriate for slotting, profiling, and ramping applications.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated by the supplier. Fits standard 3/8 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit toolholders used on CNC machining centers and conventional milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Verify the shank is seated to the correct insertion depth per the toolholder manufacturer specifications and that the collet or set screw is torqued appropriately for the holder type. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as carbide is brittle and susceptible to damage from improper handling or interrupted cuts without proper feed and speed parameters.
