The SGS 30544 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. With a 0.3438-inch (11/32 inch) mill diameter, 1-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle, this three-flute tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action in both roughing and finishing passes. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, it offers the hardness and wear resistance required for demanding machining environments. The uncoated single-end design suits applications where post-sharpening reconditioning is a common part of the tool management workflow.
This end mill is suited for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills in job shop, production, and toolroom settings. The Series 5B geometry is engineered for compatibility with a broad spectrum of materials, including steel, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and titanium, as indicated by the primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The 3/8-inch shank diameter fits standard ER and side-lock toolholders commonly found in vertical and horizontal machining center setups.
Compatible with workpiece materials classified under SGS material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and titanium. Fits standard 3/8-inch bore toolholders.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked out before changing tooling. Confirm the shank is fully seated in the toolholder to the minimum insertion depth before torquing the retention mechanism. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer specifications for clamping force — do not rely on feel alone when setting collet nuts or set screws.
