The SGS 30504 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling in demanding CNC and manual machining applications. It features a 0.0313 inch (1/32 inch) mill diameter with a 0.0781 inch (5/64 inch) length of cut, making it well suited for fine detail work, small-radius contouring, and intricate pocket milling. The three-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, this end mill delivers consistent rigidity and wear resistance in small-diameter tooling where deflection and breakage are primary concerns.
The SGS 30504 is used in precision machining environments including tool-and-die shops, aerospace component production, and medical device manufacturing. Its small diameter suits applications requiring fine surface finish on hard or exotic workpiece materials. The uncoated micrograin carbide construction is appropriate for dry or mist-cooled cutting across a wide range of material categories including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, titanium alloys, and high-temperature superalloys as indicated by primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. This is a single-end tool on a 1/8 inch shank with a 1.5 inch overall length.
Compatible with workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S as defined by the SGS Series 5B material coding system. Designed for use in standard 1/8 inch collet toolholders on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and precision routers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before inserting or removing the tool from the collet. Seat the shank fully and evenly in a clean, undamaged collet to the depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer to minimize runout. At this diameter, even minor runout or collet contamination significantly increases the risk of tool breakage.
