The SGS 30503 is a square end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. It is manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, which provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for demanding cutting operations. The tool features a 1/32 inch (0.0313 inch) cutting diameter with a 5/64 inch (0.0781 inch) length of cut, making it well suited for fine detail work, slotting, and profiling in small-scale features. With three flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, it delivers a balance of chip evacuation and surface finish. This end mill is centercutting and runs a right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction. It is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC milling machines and manual mills.
The SGS 30503 is built for milling a broad range of workpiece materials, including cast iron and hardened materials (H), non-ferrous metals (K), stainless steel (M), non-metallic and composite materials (N), steel (P), and heat-resistant superalloys (S). Its regular-length geometry and straight cylindrical 1/8 inch shank make it compatible with standard collet systems found on CNC machining centers and benchtop mills. Typical applications include finish profiling, slotting, and contour milling of small features where dimensional accuracy is critical. The uncoated carbide surface suits applications where coating interaction with the workpiece material is a concern.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines equipped with collet systems accepting a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S per the SGS Series 5 classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the power is locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or toolholder. Verify the shank is fully seated and the collet is properly torqued per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before commencing any cut. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material being machined.
