The SGS 30476 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling operations across a range of metallic and non-metallic workpiece materials. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it delivers excellent heat resistance and wear life at elevated cutting speeds. The cutting diameter is 0.0938 inches with a 0.2813-inch length of cut, a 1/8-inch shank diameter, and a 1.5-inch overall length. The 2-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in slotting, profiling, and contour milling applications. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this geometry for fine detail work in close-tolerance programs.
The SGS 30476 is suited for milling operations on hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and composites, consistent with the primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its compact diameter makes it well-suited for small-feature machining on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where tight radii or detailed cavity work is required. Single-end configuration means the cutting geometry is on one end only, and the regular-length designation fits standard collet and end mill holder setups without extended-reach tooling.
Designed as a Series 3B single-end ball end mill compatible with standard 1/8-inch collets and end mill holders used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S per SGS designation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom procedures. Secure the shank fully in a clean, properly sized collet or end mill holder and torque to the holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or damage before each use, and verify runout at the spindle before beginning a program. Do not use this tool for axial plunging unless the toolpath is programmed for a ramping or helical entry.
