The SGS 30468 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding machining environments. With a 1 inch cutting diameter, a 1.5 inch length of cut, and a 2-flute geometry, it delivers efficient material removal in a wide range of workpiece materials. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for extended tool life. An AlTiN coating adds thermal protection at the cutting edge, making this end mill well-suited for high-speed and dry cutting applications. A licensed machinist or CNC operator typically installs and qualifies this tool.
This end mill fits standard milling operations across ferrous and non-ferrous materials, as indicated by the primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. These codes correspond to material groups including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, stainless steel, and high-temperature alloys. The Series 3 designation places it in a family of general-purpose carbide end mills with a 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute design. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and runs with right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction. The straight-cylindrical 1 inch shank fits standard ER or side-lock toolholders common in vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Suited for use with workpiece materials in groups H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, general steels, stainless steels, and high-temperature alloys. Fits toolholders accepting a 1 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
This tool is installed and operated by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Always verify that the toolholder and spindle are free of debris and within runout specification before seating the shank. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in a safe state before changing tooling. Follow shop-specific feeds and speeds documentation and machine tool manufacturer guidelines when programming cutting parameters for this end mill.
