The SGS 30466 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of workpiece materials. It features a 3/4 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 4 inch overall length. The 2-flute, spiral-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. An AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) finish provides heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding applications. The micrograin carbide substrate adds toughness and wear resistance. This tool is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece. It is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 30466 is suited for milling operations on a broad spectrum of materials including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, and high-temp alloys, consistent with primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its straight cylindrical shank and right-hand cut with right-hand flute make it compatible with standard ER and end mill holders on vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. The regular length profile keeps deflection low in slotting, profiling, and side milling operations.
Compatible with standard end mill holders and ER collet chucks accepting a 3/4 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for use on vertical machining centers, CNC milling machines, and manual knee mills. Rated for workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by SGS Series 3 tooling guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or changing tooling. Verify holder runout and shank engagement depth before beginning a cut. Follow machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for set screws or collet nuts — do not overtighten, as this can damage the shank or alter concentricity.
