The SGS 30438 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.125-inch cutting diameter, 0.5-inch length of cut, and 1.5-inch overall length, this compact tool is built for close-tolerance slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. The micrograin carbide construction and AlTiN coating provide heat resistance and wear life under demanding cutting conditions. A 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation, while the two-flute geometry balances chip clearance and cutting edge strength.
The SGS 30438 is suited for machining a broad range of workpiece materials, including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, and titanium alloys, as indicated by material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its 0.125-inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders found in CNC machining centers and manual mills. The regular-length profile makes it a practical choice for general-purpose milling where extended reach is not required.
Designed for use with standard 0.125-inch collet chucks and end mill holders on CNC machining centers, knee mills, and similar machine tools. Compatible with workpiece materials designated H, K, M, N, P, and S per the supplier material code classification, covering steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and titanium alloys.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Secure the shank fully within the collet or tool holder to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Verify spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut against published speeds and feeds for the specific workpiece material before beginning the cut. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or chipping before each use and replace the tool if damage is present.
