The SGS 30357 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in milling operations. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding cutting applications. The tool features a 29/64 inch (0.4531 inch) cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length. With a 30-degree helix angle and spiral flute geometry, it promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry into workpieces. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments.
The SGS 30357 is suited for milling a broad range of materials including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, mild steel, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders commonly found on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. The regular length configuration makes it a practical choice for general-purpose slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling where extended reach is not required.
Compatible with workpiece materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, carbon steel, and high-temperature alloys. Fits any tool holder accepting a 1/2 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an e-stop or tool-change state before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts, as excessive runout accelerates edge wear and reduces surface finish quality.
