The SGS 30320 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured surfaces, complex profiles, and 3D geometry in a wide range of workpiece materials. It measures 0.1563 inches in diameter with a 0.5-inch length of cut and a 2-inch overall length. The 3/16-inch shank diameter accommodates standard toolholders in vertical and horizontal machining centers. Two right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree helix angle provide efficient chip evacuation and consistent cutting action. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding material applications. This tool ships uncoated and is intended for installation and use by machinists and CNC tooling professionals.
The SGS 30320 Series 3B ball end mill is suited for milling operations across a broad spectrum of materials, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel alloys, superalloys, and composite materials, corresponding to workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its regular-length geometry makes it a practical choice for standard-reach profiling, slotting, and finishing passes in both job shop and production environments. The single-end configuration and right-hand cutting direction are consistent with conventional milling setups on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills.
Compatible with workpiece material categories H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated by the supplier, covering cast iron, non-ferrous metals, steel, superalloys, and composites. Fits standard 3/16-inch toolholders with a shank diameter tolerance of +0.00000 to -0.00032 inches.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped. Secure the 3/16-inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout after installation before commencing cuts. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines when setting speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material.
