The SGS 30153 is a 4-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. The cutter measures 27/64 inch (0.4219 inches) in diameter with a 1 inch length of cut and a 7/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Overall length is 2-3/4 inches, keeping the tool compact and rigid for general-purpose work. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, the 30153 delivers consistent edge retention and dimensional accuracy across demanding cutting conditions. It is uncoated and center-cutting, allowing plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments.
This end mill suits a broad spectrum of material types, including cast iron and hardened materials (H), non-ferrous metals (K), stainless steel (M), non-metals and composites (N), steel (P), and high-temperature alloys (S). The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finish across these material groups. Its regular-length classification and compact 2-3/4 inch overall length make it well-suited for close-tolerance slotting, profiling, and contouring work on vertical machining centers and manual mills.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling accepting a 7/16 inch straight shank across vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety protocols. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing the tool from its holder. Ensure the shank is fully engaged within the collet or holder to the minimum recommended grip depth to prevent pullout under cutting load. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended depth-of-cut or feed rate for the workpiece material being machined.
