The SGS 30148 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured and profiled surfaces. With a 0.375-inch diameter and a 1-inch length of cut, this 4-flute tool delivers smooth surface finishes and efficient material removal in demanding applications. The micrograin carbide construction provides hardness and wear resistance suited to high-performance cutting. The 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and reduces heat buildup at the cutting zone. Variable index flute spacing helps suppress chatter during interrupted cuts and finish passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators use this end mill in production shop and job shop environments.
The SGS 30148 is suited for milling a broad range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, non-metals, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. The single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute configuration makes it a standard fit for conventional CNC machining centers and manual milling machines running right-hand spindle rotation. The regular-length profile keeps the tool rigid in standard depth-of-cut applications where extended reach is not required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fit for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines accepting a 0.375-inch round shank. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a compatible toolholder or collet chuck before tightening. Verify runout after installation, as excessive runout will reduce tool life and surface finish quality. Consult the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures before operation.
